A man from East Lombok cut a hill in two little by little in order to channel the water to his dry village. He’s chosen the waterway diversion method in order to irrigate the infertile and barren area. This is the story of Slamet Suryawan Sahak, one of the candidats of Liputan 6 Awards 2014.
As televised on Liputan 6 Siang SCTV (12/5/2104), Ijo Balit is located on the bottom of Rinjani Mountain, East Lombok, and it'scovered by green leaves with the rapid water of Rinjani Mountain which fulfil the Ijo Balit River.
20 years ago, these words could not be spelled to describe Ijo Balit. Even some people called this area as barren grassland. It’s Slamet Suryawan Sahak, a native Ijo Balit man, who worked hardly to fix this condition.
The architect which graduated from a high school in Yogyakarta is still strongly having a mind to utilize the watercourse of Rinjani Mount. The watercourse is detoured by the waterway diversion method in order to irrigate the dry area. Now, he choose the southern part of East Lombok.
