UGM Develops an Interactive Props Teeth

Yogyakarta (ANTARA News) - The students team from Gadjah Mada University develop an interactive props teeth which equipped with microcontroller-based electronic systems, so that every part of the teeth which touched are capable of producing sound automatically.

"Development of props large teeth which named tootells or “talking teeth” is intendet to at assist the visually impaired people to know more about the importance of oral health," said team coordinator Apriliani Astuti in Yogyakarta on Friday.

According to her, if every part denture material made ​​from waste sawdust is touched, then you will hear an explanation of the parts or diseases of the teeth such as email, dentin, pulp, and hollow teeth about a minute.

"The prop teeth that we made is big and equipped with a touch sensor, once its part is pressed, then you’ll hear a sound," he said.

He said, the goal of making dental spoke originally reserved for the visually impaired people, but it’s possibel too if this props teeth is used as an instructional media for children and adults to know more about oral health.

"These props could be an alternative of an instructional media to study the anatomy of teeth," said the student of Dental Education Program, Faculty of Dentistry ( FKG ) UGM.

According to her, nowadays, the instructional media about teeth could not explain about the anatomy of the tooth to the blind students in detail because the props teeth are made in small size.

Besides that, the automatic description about the parts of the teeth will ease anyone to understand more about teeth.

"Therefore, we deliberately attach sensors and microcontrollers which equipped with speakers in the teeth, " he said.

He told that the speaking props teeth are already introduced to one of the special schools for the visually impaired people in Yogyakarta.

"Many visually impaired students extend a warm welcome the presence of the dental props. Besides enabling them to see more about the parts of the anatomy of the teeth, the students also could know some of the diseases of the teeth , " he said.

Komodo is Famous For Travellers



LABUAN AJO , KOMPAS.com - Since being introduced as the new 7 wonders of the world, Komodo is recognized increasingly. That’s why the tourism of East Nusa Tenggara (Nusa Tenggara Timur, NTT) Province more popular. Now, the travelers to Labuan Bajo, West Manggarai regency capital, increased. This is caused by the increasing number of flights at the city's western end of Flores Island.

Head of East Nusa Tenggara Tourism, Alexander Sena, in a talk with Kompas Travel, Saturday (05/10/2014 ) confesses that Sail Komodo 2013 made a significant impact on tourism in the province. The data show that the foreign tourist arrivals to NTT in 2013 reached 80,810, or increased 47,000 travelers from 2012. Meanwhile, the number of domestic tourist arrivals in 2013 reached 800,000 travelers, increased from 2012 of 349 000 tourists.

"We want to want to realize NTT tourism as one of the main tourist destinations in Indonesia, " said Alexander .

According to Alexander, the main icon  of NTT tourism is Komodo, Kelimutu Lake, Wae Rebo Village, Whaling in Lamalera, the Celebration of Semana Santa in Larantuka, and Pasola in West Sumba." Many tourist destinations spread across the islands in NTT. There is beauty in the island of Komodo, Alor, 17 Riung Island, Rote , and Maumere Bay. The national parks are located in Flores and Komodo. Even there’s wealth of marine life, " said Alexander, who occupied the postion as Head of Tourism NTT since December 2013.

President SBY Appointed Chairul Tanjung as New Minister for Economic Affairs

President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono said that he accepted the resignation of Hatta Rajasa as Minister for Economic Affairs, Friday (05/16/2014). President officially appointed Chairman of the National Economic Committee (Komite Ekonomi Nasional, KEN) Chairul Tanjung instead of Hatta. "I have taken the decision to choose Chairul Tanjung as the new Minister for Economic Affairs," said the president in a press conference on Friday afternoon. Before holding a press conference, President had a closed meeting with Hatta Rajasa, Chairul Tanjung, and also State Secretary Minister, Sudi Silalahi.

President have an eye for Chairul Tanjung that he has skills, abilities, and commitment to encourage the economic development in the country. "Over the past 5 years , Mr. Chairul Tanjung is not a foreign in the cabinet and the government, and KEN closely helps cope with economic problems and points out that the government policies could be conducted to make the economy better," he said.

As reported, on Wednesday ( 13/05/2014 ), Hatta met the President with the president candidate, Prabowo from Gerindra Party. During the meeting, Hatta expressed his resignation as Minister for Economic Affairs because he’s about to go forward as a candidate for vice-president candidate with Prabowo. The resignation from Minister for Economic Affairs Hatta was subject to the Act No. 42 of 2008 about the Presidental and Vice Presidental Election. In Article 6 of the Act, state officials which nominated by the political party or coalition of political parties as a candidate for president or vice president should resign from its position.

A Failed Legislative Candidate Offered His Kidney To Dahlan Iskan

Minister of State Enterprise, Dahlan Iskan, Wednesday (14/5/2014) morning receives a legislative candidate in the 2014 election which failed to be elected as a member of Dewan Perwakilan Rakyat Daerah Kabupaten Pekalongan (People's Representative Council in District Level). He’s forced to sell his kidney in order to pay his debts.

"This morning I received a guest who wants to sell his kidney. He confessed that he has debts due to all-out refinance his nomination as a member of the legislature," said Dahlan in the office of the Ministry of Enterprise, Jakarta, Wednesday ( 14/5 ) .

According to Dahlan, the 26 years old man aked him for help to find a person who requires the kidney. "I'm sad to hear it. I suggested him not to to sell his kidney because of his young age, so it is possible  for him to find another solution," he said.

Dahlan also explained that the man really seriously do not want to make difficulties for other people. "He came to me not to beg, ask for money, and then pay his debt. But he’s looking for someone who can help him," said Dahlan without detailing the identity of his guest.

The History of The Sangiran Museum Site of Ancient Human

National Culture Camp 2014 will be a good moment for the Direktoral Jenderal Kebudayaan to introduce the Sangiran Museum Site of Ancient Human, Sragen, Central Java, to the campers of all provinces in Indonesia.

The head of the Museum, Sukronedi explained that the museums for ancient human has been established since 1970, located at Krikilan Village Hall. After much more discoveries, the new museum was built in 1984 and located in Sangiran.

After several years, there’s some changes. The old buildings were broken down and the new design was made for ​​Sangiran museum. Precisely in 2011, the new museum was inaugurated by Sangiran Deputy Minister of Education and Culture, Wiendu Niruyanti.

He also said, to preserve the site and the fossils of early humans, it’s needed community involvement through the Community-Based Conservation Concepts, because the fossils were buried in the ground and often found by people .

In addition, to introduce this museum, The National Cultural Camp 2014 is also used to show the cultural and traditional dances which summarized under the theme " Solo Dance 24 Hours ".

A man from East Lombok cut a hill in two little by little in order to channel the water to his dry village. He’s chosen the waterway diversion method in order to irrigate the infertile and barren area. This is the story of Slamet Suryawan Sahak, one of the candidats of Liputan 6 Awards 2014.

As televised on Liputan 6 Siang SCTV (12/5/2104), Ijo Balit is located on the bottom of Rinjani Mountain, East Lombok, and it'scovered by green leaves with the rapid water of Rinjani Mountain which fulfil the Ijo Balit River.

20 years ago, these words could not be spelled to describe Ijo Balit. Even some people called this area as barren grassland. It’s Slamet Suryawan Sahak, a native Ijo Balit man, who worked hardly to fix this condition.

The architect which graduated from a high school in Yogyakarta is still strongly having a mind to utilize the watercourse of Rinjani Mount. The watercourse is detoured by the waterway diversion method in order to irrigate the dry area. Now, he choose the southern part of East Lombok.
